Abstract
Lipomas frequently occur in neck, shoulders, back, abdomen, arm, and thighs. Oral lipomas are rare compared to previous sites mentioned. We present a case of a 50-year-old male with a growth in his right lower lip for 1 year. On physical examination, there was a 6 x 5 mm pink papule with white center on the lower right lip. Microscopic examination revealed submucosal mature adipocytes with surrounding reactive myxoid changes that showed uptake for colloidal iron. The S-100 and SOX 10 immunohistochemical stains omitted the possibilities of melanocytic or neural components. The lower lip is a rare site for a lipoma with only 4 cases reported in the literature. We share this case to raise attention to the fact that oral labial lipomas can occur.
