Biography

Steven D. Billings, MD completed his pathology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Following residency he completed a fellowship in both soft tissue pathology at Emory University and dermatopathology at Indiana University. Upon completion of his post graduate studies, he joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he practiced for several years. In 2007 he joined the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic where he served as co-director of the dermatopathology section for 15 years and also staffs the soft tissue pathology service. He is a Professor of Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. His research interests are in dermatopathology and soft tissue pathology with a special emphasis on cutaneous soft tissue tumors. He is the author of over 190 peer-reviewed articles, numerous invited reviews and more than 90 book chapters. He has co-authored books on inflammatory dermatopathology, cutaneous soft tissue tumors, and is a co-editor on the current edition of McKee’s Pathology of the Skin with Clinical Correlations. He is a peer reviewer and editorial board member for several journals and was a member of the Consensus Committee for the 4th edition of the WHO Classification of Skin Tumours. He is active in both the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and the American Society of Dermatopathology and has held multiple leadership positions with these organizations. He has a strong interest in education and gives numerous invited lectures and continuing medical education courses.
